Caernarfon Town made an impressive start to the new Cymru Premier season by coming from behind to beat Connah's Quay Nomads 2-1 away from home. The opening-weekend victory gives Caernarfon early momentum and stands out as one of the first notable results of the campaign.

The reigning champions, The New Saints, did not get off to a winning start. TNS were held to a 0-0 draw by Penybont, with the title holders unable to find a breakthrough in their first league match of the season.

Those two results immediately added intrigue to the early table. Caernarfon's comeback success showed resilience on the road, while Penybont's draw with the champions underlined how competitive the first round of Cymru Premier fixtures could be.

With only the opening set of matches played, there is still a long way to go, but Caernarfon will be encouraged by their fast start. At the same time, The New Saints will look to turn possession and pressure into wins after beginning their title defence with a stalemate.
