India approved just one foreign direct investment proposal from China in FY26, and the cleared amount was only ₹1 crore. The figure points to a very small level of approved Chinese investment in India during the period.

By comparison, Hong Kong received approvals for 13 proposals. Those clearances added up to ₹610 crore, showing a much larger approved pipeline than the one recorded for mainland China.

The approval data also highlights the role of other investment sources. Singapore led in approved investment value, with ₹3,259 crore, putting it well ahead of both China and Hong Kong on this measure.

Taken together, the figures show a clear gap in India’s FY26 approved FDI inflows by origin. China accounted for only a single cleared proposal, while Hong Kong and Singapore featured far more prominently in the approved investment landscape.
