Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said substance abuse is a major reason for social decline, linking drugs and alcohol to wider damage in families and communities. Speaking in Bhopal after the launch of a nationwide drive, he placed the issue at the center of the state government's public messaging.
Yadav said the Madhya Pradesh government has already enforced prohibition in 19 religious towns across the state. The move highlights the administration's effort to place tighter controls on liquor sales in places seen as spiritually significant.
Alongside the ban, the state is also running awareness campaigns against substance abuse. The focus of these efforts is to warn people about the harmful impact of addiction and to build support for prevention at the local level.
The announcement brings together enforcement and outreach as part of Madhya Pradesh's broader response to alcohol and drug misuse. By combining prohibition in selected towns with anti-drug awareness work, the government is signaling a tougher stand on substance abuse.
