Discotek Media has unveiled a large new anime home video lineup, with the company announcing at Otakon that more than a dozen titles are planned for Blu-ray release this year. Among the headline additions are Digimon Frontier, Pani Poni Dash!, Lupin III: Part II, Outlanders, and Samurai Pizza Cats.
The newly announced slate also reaches across several well-known catalog titles and fan favorites. Releases named in the announcement include Toradora!, The Big O, Argento Soma, Tales of the Abyss, Infinite Ryvius, Memories, Patlabor television and movie entries, Penguindrum, Lupin III: Zenigata and the 2 Lupins, and Digimon Movies Collection 3.
The update highlights Discotek’s continued focus on bringing older and harder-to-find anime back to the home video market in Blu-ray format. The mix of classic action, comedy, sci-fi, and franchise titles suggests a broad release strategy aimed at both longtime collectors and viewers catching up on major series.
While the company announced the titles at its convention panel, the reveal mainly centered on what fans can expect to see join Discotek’s Blu-ray catalog over the course of the year. For collectors of legacy anime releases, the lineup stands out for both the number of titles and the range of series included.
