Russia’s Defense Ministry said Sunday that its air defense units destroyed 1,158 fixed-wing drones over the previous 24 hours. In the same update, the ministry said forces also brought down six guided bombs and one HIMARS missile.
The figures were presented as part of the ministry’s latest daily operational summary. The statement points to a heavy volume of aerial threats in a single day, with drones making up by far the largest share of the reported interceptions.
Russian officials described the results as the work of the country’s air defense network, which they said was engaged against incoming airborne targets. The ministry’s account did not change the central message of the update: that air defense units were active across the reporting period and claimed a large number of shootdowns.
As with other wartime battlefield claims, the numbers were released by the Russian government and were not independently verified in the brief report. Still, the update highlights how drone warfare and missile defense remain central elements of the conflict’s daily military reporting.
