JPMorgan Chase says it will commit $750 billion through 2035 to help expand the U.S. housing supply and widen access to homeownership. The announcement positions housing as a major long-term investment area for the bank as affordability and limited supply remain key issues across the country.

According to the company, the plan includes financing for 1 million affordable housing units. It also includes support aimed at helping 500,000 people buy homes, tying the effort to both new housing development and individual homeownership opportunities.

The size of the pledge makes it one of the more significant private-sector commitments tied to housing availability and affordability. By focusing on both unit production and buyer assistance, JPMorgan Chase is framing the initiative around two of the biggest pressures in the market: too few homes and high barriers for would-be buyers.

The investment is set to run over the next decade, through 2035. More broadly, the move highlights how major financial institutions are seeking a larger role in addressing the U.S. housing shortage while supporting pathways into homeownership.
