India has reached a major point in its space sector with the successful launch of Vikram-1 by startup Skyroot Aerospace. The mission is being described as the country’s first privately developed orbital-class rocket, highlighting a new phase for private companies in India’s growing space industry.
Vikram-1 is a fully indigenous, multi-stage rocket built to carry small satellites into low Earth orbit. That capability is increasingly important as demand rises for smaller, more flexible satellite missions used in communications, Earth observation, and research.
