Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday unveiled the official mascot for the BWF World Championships, named Peacko. The launch was held alongside the unveiling of the tournament’s official anthem, marking another step in the build-up to the major badminton event.
Badminton Association of India President and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma joined Mandaviya at the ceremony. The joint appearance highlighted the involvement of both the national sports administration and badminton’s governing leadership in promoting the championships.
The introduction of Peacko adds a distinctive identity to the BWF World Championships, while the anthem is intended to strengthen the event’s public appeal. Such launches are often designed to create visibility around a tournament and build anticipation among badminton fans, athletes and organizers.
With the mascot and anthem now officially presented, attention is expected to shift further toward the championship preparations and the wider promotion of badminton in India. The ceremony underscored the importance being placed on the event as a key moment on the international badminton calendar.
