Several young track and field athletes from Stark County are headed to one of the biggest meets of the season, the AAU Track and Field Junior Olympics in Des Moines. The group includes competitors from Canton, North Canton, Massillon and Perry.
The event is a major stage for youth athletes, and for some local participants in grades 3 through 6, it represents a highlight of their summer schedule. Reaching the Junior Olympics gives these athletes a chance to test themselves against strong competition from around the country.
Families and coaches from the Stark County area will be watching as the local athletes represent their schools and communities at the national meet. The trip to Des Moines also puts a spotlight on the youth track and field talent developing across the county.
With multiple communities sending athletes, Stark County will have a notable presence at the AAU Track and Field Junior Olympics this week. The meet offers a valuable experience for these young competitors as they take part in one of youth track’s top events.
