The 25th Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training exercise, known as SEACAT, officially began in Singapore on Aug. 4, 2026. Organizers said maritime forces from 16 Indo-Pacific partner nations are taking part, alongside the U.S. Navy and personnel from non-governmental and international organizations.

SEACAT is designed to bring regional maritime partners together for cooperative training and coordination. By gathering naval and other maritime participants in one exercise, the event supports closer links among countries that operate across the Indo-Pacific and Southeast Asia.

This year’s launch in Singapore highlights the city-state’s continuing role as a key location for regional maritime engagement. The inclusion of non-governmental and international organization personnel also points to a broader approach that goes beyond military participation alone.

With 25 iterations now completed or underway, SEACAT remains a longstanding platform for practical cooperation among Indo-Pacific maritime forces. The latest exercise reflects continued interest in joint training, information-sharing, and stronger regional coordination at sea.
