Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday stepped up his criticism of the Narendra Modi government and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, sharpening a political attack centered on history, education and accountability. The Congress leader said India would not allow its past to be undermined.
His remarks framed the dispute as more than a routine party clash, presenting it as a wider argument over how the country’s history is understood and defended. By directly naming the RSS alongside the Modi government, Gandhi signaled that the debate was aimed at both the ruling establishment and the broader ideological forces he says influence it.
Gandhi also voiced support for students protesting over examination irregularities. He highlighted their concerns as a serious public issue and linked them to questions about fairness and trust in the system.
Along with backing the student protests, Gandhi called for an apology from the government’s top leadership. His intervention adds to the pressure on the BJP-led government as the opposition seeks to turn discontent over history and exam-related controversies into a broader political challenge.
