The Union government has approved 11 data and artificial intelligence labs for Jharkhand, expanding access to AI-focused facilities in the state’s technical education institutions.

The labs will be established at Industrial Training Institutes and polytechnics under the IndiaAI Mission. The initiative is intended to support data and AI learning through institutions that provide technical and vocational training.

Jharkhand has also been awarded two AI centres of excellence and eight fellowships as part of the announcement. These additions broaden the programme beyond laboratory infrastructure to include advanced AI hubs and fellowships.

The approvals place Jharkhand among the states receiving support through the Union government’s IndiaAI Mission, with the announced facilities and fellowships focused on strengthening AI education and capability development.
