ABBYY said SlateWorks Global Solutions won its 2026 hackathon during the fourth annual ABBYY Ascend Developer Conference in Austin, Texas. The winning project focused on mortgage auditing review, a process that often depends on checking large volumes of documents and extracting key information accurately.
According to the announcement, SlateWorks earned the top spot with AIM, a solution that brings together Document AI, generative AI and retrieval-augmented generation, or RAG. The combination is designed to automate parts of mortgage auditing, helping review teams handle document-heavy work more efficiently.
The project highlights how document processing tools and large language models are being applied to specialized business tasks rather than only broad consumer use cases. In mortgage auditing, where workflows can involve multiple records, forms and supporting files, AI systems that can identify, organize and surface relevant information may reduce manual review time.
ABBYY’s hackathon result also underscores the company’s focus on developer-led innovation around intelligent document workflows. With SlateWorks’ AIM taking the win, the event put a spotlight on practical uses of Document AI and large language models in the mortgage sector.
