Russian officials say a drone attack hit a crowded beach in the Krasnodar region on Monday, turning a summer outing on the Black Sea coast into a deadly scene. According to regional authorities, seven people were killed, including three children.
Officials also said 58 people were injured when the drone slammed into the shoreline. The reported strike hit during a busy time at the beach, increasing the number of casualties among people gathered near the water.
In its account of the incident, Russia blamed a Ukrainian drone for the attack. The event adds to the growing toll of drone warfare linked to the conflict, with civilian areas increasingly affected far from active front lines.
The attack on the Krasnodar beach is likely to draw further attention because of the high number of victims and the presence of children among the dead. Authorities have continued to report on the casualties and aftermath in the region.
