Japan is rolling out a new approach to dangerous summer temperatures with a walk-in personal cooling booth described as a human refrigerator. The product, called the Do Hiemon Box, is designed to cool a person down within minutes and is already appearing in public spaces around the country.

According to the product description, the booth lowers the body to 15C while sending 5C airflow toward the head and neck. That setup is aimed at providing rapid relief during periods of intense heat, when quick cooling can be especially valuable for people moving between hot outdoor areas and indoor spaces.

The Do Hiemon Box is now being sold to businesses across Japan at a listed price of 1.5 million yen, or about $9,230. Its commercial rollout suggests the device is being positioned for workplaces and other shared settings where heat exposure is a growing concern.

The launch reflects how companies in Japan are exploring new technology to deal with more severe heat waves. Rather than a handheld or wearable gadget, this booth offers a dedicated cooling space, turning heat protection into a fixed installation for public and business use.
