Apple has increased iPhone 17 prices in Japan by roughly 10%, a move that comes as the yen remains close to a four-decade low against other major currencies. The price adjustment affects the company’s latest iPhone lineup in one of its key international markets.
According to the reported pricing, the entry-level iPhone 17 with 256GB of storage now starts at ¥142,800, up from ¥129,800 previously. The iPhone 17 Pro with the same storage capacity also became more expensive, rising 8.3% to ¥194,800.
The change highlights how exchange-rate pressure can reshape consumer tech pricing in Japan. A weaker yen makes imported products more costly to sell at previous price levels, and global brands often respond by passing part of that cost on to buyers.
The Japan increase also follows a separate round of global price hikes on Macs and iPads, pointing to broader pricing adjustments across Apple’s hardware business. For shoppers in Japan, the latest revision means higher costs for both standard and premium iPhone 17 models.
