Copenhagen startup Triton Depth has secured €1 million in pre-seed funding to develop an underwater monitoring system designed to work like CCTV beneath the sea. The company was founded in 2025 by three engineering students from DTU and is focusing on a part of European security that has received relatively little attention.
Its concept centers on AI-powered listening posts placed across the seabed. These sensors are intended to help detect and track activity underwater, including drones and other potential threats, giving operators a clearer view of what is happening below the surface.
The idea comes as concern grows around the safety of subsea areas and the difficulty of monitoring them in real time. By building a networked system of underwater sensors, Triton Depth is aiming to improve awareness in places where traditional surveillance tools are limited or unavailable.
With fresh early-stage funding in place, the Danish startup now has backing to keep developing its underwater surveillance technology. The raise highlights investor interest in AI-based maritime security tools and in solutions aimed at protecting critical underwater environments.
