A businessman from Telangana has alleged that he was targeted in a Rs 5-crore extortion attempt, prompting police action in Kerala. According to the complaint, the case involves a woman from Thiruvananthapuram and three other people.

The Vanchiyoor police have registered a case against the four accused under Sections 384 and 387 of the Indian Penal Code, which deal with extortion and putting a person in fear of harm in order to extort money. The action follows the businessman’s allegation that he was threatened in connection with a relationship issue.

At this stage, the matter remains an allegation under investigation, and the police booking does not amount to a finding of guilt. Authorities are expected to examine the complaint, the nature of the alleged threats and the role of each person named in the case.

The case has drawn attention because of the large sum involved and the interstate link between Telangana and Thiruvananthapuram. Further details are likely to emerge as the investigation progresses.
