A federal judge has denied a request from a group of Paramount subscribers who wanted to temporarily stop the pending Paramount-Warner transaction. The ruling means the merger will not be paused at this stage of the case.

Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín found that the plaintiffs did not meet the legal bar for a preliminary injunction. According to the court’s reasoning, the subscribers failed to show irreparable harm and also did not demonstrate that their claims were likely to succeed.

The lawsuit was brought by consumers seeking to block the proposed $110 billion media deal tied to the David Ellison-led company. By rejecting the emergency request, the court declined to intervene before the broader case is resolved.

The decision is an early win for the companies involved, though it does not necessarily end the underlying lawsuit. For now, the court’s ruling keeps the transaction on track while the consumer challenge continues through the legal process.
