Kerala’s proposed EV Research Park at Vilappilsala has run into a fresh delay as restructuring at the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) holds up funding decisions. The setback has slowed progress on a project that is intended to support electric vehicle research and related development in the state.

According to the available details, the project’s master plan has already been prepared. However, the detailed project report, or DPR, has not moved forward, leaving the initiative stuck at a key planning stage.

Officials are now trying to bring the project back on track by seeking support from the chief minister and concerned ministers. Their push suggests there is still institutional interest in reviving the EV Research Park despite the current funding and approval bottleneck.

The delay highlights how financial restructuring can affect technology and infrastructure projects even after early planning work is completed. For now, the future of the Vilappilsala EV Research Park appears to depend on whether the state can resolve the KIIFB-related hurdles and restart the approval process.
