Kaushambi police have arrested Moinuddin alias Irfan, an accused carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, in connection with a cattle slaughter case reported in July. Authorities said he was taken into custody after an exchange of fire with police during an operation in the district.
According to the brief details available, the accused suffered a gunshot injury to the leg in the encounter. Police also said a weapon was recovered during the action, adding to the case against him.
The arrest is being seen as a significant step in the investigation into the July cattle slaughter matter. Reward notices are typically issued for suspects who remain at large, and police had been looking for the accused before this operation.
