Rajasthan has identified 3,768 school buildings across the state as structurally unfit, setting the stage for a large-scale rebuilding drive. The work is expected to be carried out in phases as the state addresses safety concerns in government school infrastructure.
In the first stage, plans have been made for 300 new school buildings. The state has approved Rs 409 crore for this initial round, signaling the start of a broader effort to replace unsafe structures and improve learning spaces.
Alongside the rebuilding plan, proposals have also been sent for additional funding support through NABARD. That step suggests the state is looking to expand the programme beyond the first approved batch as it moves through later phases.
The response is not limited to complete reconstruction. Repairs have also been planned for around 2,500 school buildings, indicating a two-track approach in which some campuses will be rebuilt while others will be restored to meet safety needs.
