Chhattisgarh is still facing uneven monsoon conditions, with the state recording a 24% rainfall deficit as of July 19, according to the India Meteorological Department. The latest situation points to a weak and irregular spread of rain across the state rather than a uniform monsoon pattern.
Only four districts have reported excess rainfall so far, while a much larger number continue to lag behind seasonal averages. IMD data shows that 18 of Chhattisgarh’s 33 districts are still in the below-normal category, underlining the wide regional imbalance in rain distribution.
Some areas have received scattered moderate showers, offering temporary relief and improving local conditions. However, these isolated spells have not been enough to significantly reduce the overall shortfall across the state.
The rainfall pattern suggests that monsoon activity in Chhattisgarh remains patchy, with gains in a few pockets offset by weak performance elsewhere. For now, the state continues to track below normal even as intermittent showers are reported in select areas.
