Kolkata saw daytime temperatures fall below 30°C after an eight-day gap as rain and persistent cloud cover brought relief from warmer conditions. The change marks a noticeable shift in the city’s weather, with showers helping keep the mercury in check.
According to the India Meteorological Department, rainfall activity is expected to increase from Tuesday to Thursday. The forecast points to enhanced rain over the region as the monsoon trough and an associated cyclonic circulation become more active.
The weather pattern is likely to keep skies cloudy and support more frequent spells of rain in Kolkata over the next few days. With these systems strengthening, conditions remain favourable for continued wet weather across the city and nearby areas.
The IMD has also indicated the possibility of isolated heavy showers in coastal districts. While Kolkata is set for more rain, coastal parts of the state may see sharper downpours during this period as the monsoon system intensifies.
