Wakad police have arrested four people in connection with a string of burglary cases, including an alleged history-sheeter described as the kingpin of the group. Investigators say the arrests have helped crack five recent break-ins in the area.
According to police, stolen valuables worth about ₹10.34 lakh have been recovered during the operation. The recovered property includes gold jewellery, a major portion of the items allegedly taken in the burglaries.
Officials said the main accused has a long criminal record, with 44 previous cases linked to him. Three alleged aides were also taken into custody as part of the same action, suggesting police believe the break-ins were carried out by an organized group rather than by individuals acting alone.
The arrests are expected to bring progress in several recent theft investigations handled by Wakad police. With the recovery of jewellery and other valuables, authorities appear to have made a significant breakthrough in addressing a cluster of local burglary incidents.
