The Singapore Pools mobile app can reportedly be used to place bets from outside the country, even though betting is supposed to take place only within Singapore. The issue raises questions about how location controls are being enforced on the platform.
According to CNA, tests carried out in the United Kingdom and Italy were able to go through successfully on the app. The report also said other users described similar workarounds from countries including Thailand, Malaysia and China.
The findings suggest that overseas access may still be possible despite existing rules designed to keep gambling activity within Singapore. That could put fresh attention on whether the app’s location checks are effective enough to block cross-border betting.
The reported loophole is likely to add scrutiny to Singapore Pools’ digital betting safeguards, particularly as online gambling platforms rely on app-based access and geolocation tools to meet regulatory requirements.
