Apple has reportedly begun a limited test that records and uses AI to summarize some conversations between customers and employees at the Genius Bar. The pilot, called Live Notes, appears to focus on repair and support interactions rather than a broad rollout across Apple Stores.

The reported program is said to be opt-in, meaning customers would need to agree before a conversation is recorded and summarized. The effort also appears to be narrow in scope, suggesting Apple is testing how AI-generated notes might help document service visits without making the feature standard for every appointment.

One notable detail is that managers reportedly do not have access to the summaries, a point that may be aimed at easing concerns about workplace monitoring. Even so, the report says some employees remain uneasy about the idea of conversations being recorded and processed by AI, despite the limits described in the pilot.

If expanded, the approach could change how Apple handles repair intake and support follow-ups by creating faster written recaps of customer visits. For now, though, the reported Live Notes initiative appears to be an early experiment that highlights both the potential convenience of AI tools and the privacy and workplace questions they can raise.
