The parents of Jenna Chan, a teenager who died during a 2024 school trip to the Maldives, have filed a negligence lawsuit against SJI International. The legal action was lodged on what would have been Jenna’s 17th birthday, putting renewed focus on the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to the lawsuit, Jenna entered the water from a boat on the morning of Nov 8, 2024, after receiving permission from teachers who were accompanying the trip. The suit alleges that events unfolded shortly afterward, leading to the incident in which she died.
