Three people were injured Monday morning in a chaotic incident outside Manhattan’s immigration court, where authorities say a 43-year-old Army veteran used fireworks, started a fire and fired a pellet gun near a federal office building.
According to officials, the man was identified as Andrew Arrabaca. The FBI said he arrived at 26 Federal Plaza with gasoline, fireworks and a cart carrying a sign that read “ICE Off Our Streets,” linking the episode to anti-ICE messaging outside the busy immigration court complex.
Investigators say the incident unfolded outside the federal building before security intervened. The combination of a fire, fireworks and pellet gun shots caused injuries to three people, prompting a rapid law enforcement response at one of New York City’s key federal immigration locations.
