Rail connectivity in upper Assam has been hit by flooding, prompting NFR to arrange three pairs of special trains to ease travel disruption. The move comes as regular operations on the affected route have been interrupted and passengers face delays and changes to planned services.
According to the available details, the disruption is linked to flood damage affecting the Simaluguri rail connection. With services suspended on that stretch, railway authorities have introduced the special trains as a temporary measure to maintain some level of movement in the region.
The flooding has also forced operational changes for several existing services. A total of 13 trains running between Dibrugarh and Tinsukia have been diverted, reflecting the broader impact of the weather-related disruption on the rail network in upper Assam.
The special train arrangement is aimed at reducing inconvenience while normal connectivity remains affected. Floods often create major challenges for transport links in Assam during the monsoon period, and the latest changes underline how quickly rail operations can be reshaped by extreme weather.
