John Lydon has made it clear that a return to the Sex Pistols is not on the table. The former Johnny Rotten said the chances of rejoining the band are beyond unlikely, framing the idea as effectively impossible while signaling that his attention is elsewhere.
That focus is now firmly on Public Image Ltd., with Lydon preparing for what is described as the group’s most extensive tour yet. Rather than revisiting his earliest punk chapter, he appears to be centering this period on PiL’s present activity and future plans.
Lydon also used the conversation to address a previous comment connected to Donald Trump, another example of how his public remarks continue to draw attention beyond music. While the discussion touched on politics and perception, the broader theme was Lydon reflecting on how he is viewed and what he wants to prioritize now.
Alongside the touring schedule, Lydon said Public Image Ltd. are also working toward a new album, with help from Oasis’ Noel Gallagher. That combination of live dates and fresh recording activity suggests his current creative energy is aimed at pushing PiL forward, not reopening the Sex Pistols story.
