Syrian authorities said they prevented another attempt to move weapons from Syria into Lebanon, marking the second such case announced within a week. The operation was reported at the Jdeidat Yabous border crossing, a key route between the two countries.
According to the announcement, customs officials discovered 226 grenade launcher rounds along with other weapons hidden inside a private vehicle headed for Lebanon. Officials said the shipment was believed to be intended for Hezbollah, though the report as described focused on the seizure itself and the suspected destination of the ammunition.
The latest interception adds to concerns over cross-border weapons trafficking and the use of civilian vehicles to conceal military supplies. It also underscores heightened attention at Syrian border crossings as authorities seek to disrupt smuggling networks operating between Syria and Lebanon.
