David Malukas delivered one of the standout drives of the Nashville weekend, climbing from last on the grid to a third-place finish in Monday's postponed Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix. The result was especially notable given that he was dealing with a knee injury and had been in the hospital on Saturday.
Despite starting at the very back, Malukas moved through the field aggressively and spent a significant part of the race at the front. He led 59 laps, turning what could have been a survival run into a serious challenge for victory before ultimately securing a podium place.
The performance matched the intensity suggested by his own assessment that he had never driven harder. In difficult conditions, with the race pushed back to Monday and his physical condition still a factor, Malukas managed to combine pace, racecraft and resilience.
