US drone seller Odyssey Robot is facing scrutiny after allegedly misleading the Federal Communications Commission about the origins of one of its products. The issue centers on an FCC authorization granted earlier this year for a drone the company presented as a US-made device.
According to the report, a security researcher uncovered signs that the hardware may actually trace back to a company connected to DJI, the Chinese drone giant. That finding appears to conflict with how the product was represented to regulators during the approval process.
The FCC has now moved to address the matter, putting fresh attention on how drone makers describe their products and supply chains in official filings. If a vendor tried to relabel an imported platform as a domestic product, it would raise serious questions about transparency and compliance.
