Mysuru’s SDNR Wadiyar Ground is set for a major lighting upgrade, with the Karnataka State Cricket Association planning to install advanced LED floodlights at the venue. The project is aimed at modernizing the ground and improving conditions for matches played under lights.
According to the details available, the new system will deliver more than 3,000 lux of lighting on the pitch. That level of illumination is significant for professional play, helping improve visibility for players, officials and spectators during evening fixtures.
The upgrade is also expected to bring efficiency gains. The LED setup is said to reduce energy consumption by around 40%, making the floodlighting system more cost-effective compared with older alternatives while supporting a more modern stadium infrastructure.
Another key benefit of the project is broadcast readiness. With lighting designed to support 4K coverage, the upgraded ground would be better equipped for high-quality sports telecasts, strengthening SDNR Wadiyar Ground’s ability to host fixtures that demand stronger production standards.
