AMD has unveiled its next-generation EPYC Venice processor, giving an early look at a major Zen 6 server CPU aimed at future data center workloads. The biggest headline is the chip’s 256-core configuration, which points to a significant jump in compute density for enterprise, cloud and AI-focused infrastructure.

The Venice package shown at AMD’s Advancing AI event also highlighted a very large design with twin I/O dies. That layout suggests AMD is continuing to push advanced chiplet packaging to balance high core counts with the connectivity and data movement demands that matter in modern server platforms.

Another major point from the reveal is the manufacturing milestone attached to Venice. AMD positioned the processor as the first 2nm high-performance computing chip to enter volume ramp, underlining how aggressively the company is moving its data center roadmap forward as competition in server silicon intensifies.
