Mahisagar police have seized two boats allegedly used to transport Indian-made foreign liquor on the Mahisagar river near Vadodara. According to the initial details, the consignment was valued at more than Rs 5 lakh.

The seizure points to an alleged river-based smuggling route being used to move liquor in the area. Police acted against the operation and recovered the boats, but the suspected bootleggers managed to escape before they could be detained.

Officials are now continuing their investigation to identify those involved and trace the wider network behind the liquor movement. The case has drawn attention because the smuggling was reportedly being carried out through boats rather than by road.

Police are expected to examine how the liquor was being transported, where it came from, and who was meant to receive it. Further action is likely as investigators work to track down the suspects who fled the scene.
