A tourist from Chennai was rescued after a serious fall at Kolukkumala near Munnar, according to reports. The man, identified as M Karthick, reportedly slipped and plunged more than 500 feet into a gorge while taking photographs in the hill area.
The incident triggered a rescue effort that lasted around five hours. He was eventually brought out from the gorge, highlighting the difficulty of reaching and evacuating someone from the rugged terrain around Kolukkumala.
After being rescued, Karthick was referred to Theni Medical College for treatment. No further details on his condition were immediately available from the brief report.
The accident has again drawn attention to the risks tourists can face at scenic mountain viewpoints, especially while taking pictures near steep edges and difficult ground. Kolukkumala, known for its dramatic landscapes, remains a popular destination near Munnar.
