China has said it is willing to deal with sensitive issues in its relationship with India as both countries try to build on recent signs of stability in bilateral ties. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks after meeting India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on the sidelines of ASEAN meetings.

According to the brief account of the meeting, Beijing wants to preserve and strengthen the current positive direction in ties with New Delhi. The emphasis was on managing difficult matters carefully while continuing diplomatic engagement between the two neighbors.

The discussions also pointed to a broader effort to deepen cooperation beyond contentious areas. China and India were described as looking to expand economic links and cultural exchanges, suggesting that both sides see value in keeping practical cooperation moving even when more sensitive questions remain unresolved.

The meeting is another sign that both governments are trying to keep communication active through regional forums and direct talks between senior officials. While major differences are not expected to disappear quickly, the latest exchange indicates a shared interest in preventing friction from overwhelming the wider relationship.
