Senior advocate Kapil Sibal has urged the Supreme Court to give a clear interpretation of India’s anti-defection provisions as disputes over party splits and mergers continue to shape major political battles.
The issue has gained renewed attention in the long-running case linked to the Shiv Sena split. Sibal has appeared for the Sena UBT side in its challenge to the actions of MLAs led by Eknath Shinde, a political development that was followed by the fall of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
