Lalit Modi has said he will begin visiting India again after receiving relief from the SAFEMA tribunal. While announcing the development, he made it clear that London will continue to be his permanent home.
According to his statement, the tribunal’s decision cleared penalties against him, opening the way for future trips to India. Modi also said he plans to apply for an Overseas Citizen of India, or OCI, card because he has already surrendered his Indian passport.
He further claimed that he had left India because of threats linked to Dawood Ibrahim. In the same announcement, Modi said he has succeeded in all of his legal cases in India, presenting the tribunal outcome as another major win.
The update marks a fresh turn in the long-running legal and personal story surrounding Lalit Modi. Even as he remains based in London, his comments suggest he now sees a path to returning to India for visits after years of legal disputes.
