Samsung says the unusual red stain seen on some Galaxy S26 Ultra displays is a software problem rather than a hardware defect. The issue had raised concerns among users who feared the mark could be a sign of permanent OLED burn-in.
Reports described a rectangular red patch appearing in the center of the screen on certain devices. Because OLED panels can suffer lasting image retention in some cases, the visual artifact quickly led to worries that affected phones might need screen replacements.
According to Samsung, that is not the case here. The company has indicated that the problem is linked to software, suggesting the display itself is not damaged. That should come as a relief to owners concerned about a more serious panel failure.
