According to the announcement, the upcoming show will be a Japanese installment connected to the Parasyte universe introduced in Parasyte: The Grey. The new series shifts attention to Ryoko Tamiya, a major figure from the original manga whose identity blurs the line between human and parasite.
Japanese actress Shioli Kutsuna is set to play Tamiya, a character long known to fans of the source material. The role has been described as a complex one, placing her in the space between monster and person, which suggests the series will again explore the unsettling moral questions that helped define the franchise.
With Parasyte: Tamiya, Netflix appears to be building on the momentum of Yeon Sang-ho’s earlier take while opening the door to a fresh setting and perspective.
