1Password has introduced a new integration with Claude for Mac users, expanding how AI can interact with online accounts while keeping sensitive credentials out of view. The feature is designed to let Anthropic’s AI agent complete website sign-ins without directly accessing a user’s password.
According to the announcement, the setup also keeps two-factor authentication codes hidden from Claude. That means the AI can help with the login process without being given the actual secrets normally required to enter an account.
The move points to a broader effort to make AI agents more useful for routine web tasks while preserving core security protections. By placing a password manager between the user’s credentials and the AI tool, 1Password is aiming to reduce exposure of login details during automated actions.
For Mac users, the new Claude integration suggests a more controlled way to combine AI assistance with account access. It also highlights how password managers may play a larger role as AI tools begin handling more steps in everyday browsing and sign-in workflows.
