The ED has questioned Swarup, the elder son of TMC MLA Madan Mitra, in connection with the Kolkata municipality recruitment scam. The development marks a fresh turn in the investigation into alleged irregularities linked to civic hiring.
The agency has also summoned Mitra’s wife, Archana, as it continues examining the case. With family members now being called in, the probe appears to be widening around those connected to the matter.
Madan Mitra himself has been asked to appear at the CGO Complex on July 29. That notice places the senior TMC leader directly within the latest round of questioning tied to the civic jobs scam.
The case remains politically significant because it concerns municipal recruitment in Kolkata and now involves a sitting MLA’s family. The questioning of Swarup, the summons to Archana, and Mitra’s scheduled appearance are the latest key developments in the ongoing probe.
