Opposition to the fast expansion of AI data centers intensified across the United States last weekend, as protests were reported in 142 locations spanning 42 states. The demonstrations marked a significant escalation in public resistance to the infrastructure boom tied to artificial intelligence.
The protests were organized by HumansFirst, described as a conservative social movement. At the same time, the group’s founder said the pushback against unregulated data center development should not be viewed as a strictly partisan issue, suggesting the concerns reach beyond one political camp.
