Kiyoshi “Kan” Mizoguchi, JA1BK, a respected figure in amateur radio, has died. According to the report, Mizoguchi passed away in May 2026 at the age of 93, marking the loss of a longtime operator known across the global DX community.
Mizoguchi was widely recognized as both a DXer and a DXpeditioner, roles that placed him among the better-known names in international amateur radio. His work and reputation were further reflected in his induction into the CQ DX Hall of Fame, an honor associated with major contributions to DXing.
Beyond on-air activity, Mizoguchi also held an important leadership position as a former Director of International Amateur Radio Union Region 3. The report also notes that he was a member of the ARRL Maxim Society, underscoring his standing within the broader amateur radio world.
His passing closes a long chapter in amateur radio history. For many operators, JA1BK will be remembered for his involvement in DXing, expedition activity, and international radio leadership over many years.
