Google is widening the reach of Gemini Live on its smart home hardware, with support now on the way for older Google Home devices. The move fills a gap in the rollout after the feature had already arrived on several newer speakers and displays.
According to the update, Gemini Live has been available since October 2025 on devices including the Nest Mini, Nest Hub, Nest Hub Max, and Nest Audio. That left earlier Google Home models outside the initial launch, but this latest expansion indicates Google is bringing the conversational AI experience to aging hardware as well.
The report also points to a usability change: Gemini Live is gaining a 15-minute conversational window. In practical terms, that should let users keep a voice interaction going for longer, making back-and-forth requests feel more natural on supported smart speakers and displays.
Taken together, the changes show Google is still investing in its home device lineup, not just its newer Nest products. For users with older Google Home gear, the update could make those devices more useful again by adding a more capable voice assistant experience.
