Apple Wallet could soon add support for digital driver’s licenses and IDs in two more US states, according to a new report. The update would expand Apple’s effort to let iPhone users store eligible state-issued identification cards directly in the Wallet app.
The report says the possible expansion was spotted through findings highlighted by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris and then discussed by 9to5Mac. While the trimmed report does not identify the states, it indicates that Apple’s digital ID program may be preparing to grow beyond its current availability.
Apple Wallet already supports digital IDs and driver’s licenses in a limited number of US states, with access depending on local government participation and rollout timing. For users, the feature is meant to offer a more convenient way to keep identification on an iPhone, rather than carrying only a physical card.
Even so, support for digital identification remains state by state, and official availability can take time. Until Apple or the relevant state agencies confirm details, the report should be viewed as an early sign that broader Apple Wallet driver’s license support may be on the way.
