Thane district has recorded about 60% voter enumeration under the ongoing SIR voter roll revision exercise, according to the latest official review. The update comes as election authorities in Maharashtra assess how the revision is progressing on the ground and how quickly forms are reaching eligible voters.
Officials said a large share of forms has already been distributed as part of the exercise. The review also highlighted administrative steps aimed at improving access, including the setting up of help desks to assist residents with the process and address practical difficulties during voter roll revision.
At the same time, election staff have been urged to strengthen field verification. Booth Level Officers, or BLOs, have been asked to carry out door-to-door checks so that pending households and entries can be covered more effectively. The push appears intended to improve both reach and accuracy as the revision continues.
The exercise is unfolding amid concerns raised by voters and political leaders, making implementation a key focus for the authorities. With enumeration still underway, the emphasis remains on wider coverage, smoother form handling and closer verification across Thane district.
